As a lash tech, we are always asked by clients "do lash extensions damage my natural lashes"? What's more, some people even said "I don't have my own lashes after I do lash extensions". The simply answer is "not if your lash extensions are done properly". So it is very important to improve your techniques to avoid damage the natural lashes.

The following are some tips to help you keep your clients away burns and make them happy with lash extensions.

1. Tell your clients don't

There are also some things clients can't do during lash extensions that you should let them know.

When they book an appointment, remind your clients avoid caffeine for at least an hour prior, this will prevent their eyelids from flickering, and may also cause them to fall asleep, which will also prevent them from chatting so much.

During the lashing, tell clients to avoid the following motion:

  • Rub eyes
  • Lift up head and rearranges with no warning
  • Move entire body when trying to get comfy
  • Scratches eye and move the eye patches
  • Open eyes and check phone

All those actions may cause client's eye with a gap then the lash glue would enter into their eyes, then the chemical burns would happen!

2. Do proper prepare for your clients.

Firstly, we can help clients to keep their eyes closed through the treatment. We post a blog about how to prepare clients for lash extensions days ago, there is detailed procedure about the before treatment. If you do proper pre treatment for your clients, this will greatly reduce the damage.

3. Pick right lash supplies

We know that not every client with strong natural lashes, so as a lash artist, we should pick "safe" thickness for clients. If their natural lashes not healthy, of course it would damage caused when they were applied mega volume fan.

There are 0.02mm ~ 0.05mm for mega volume, 0.06mm ~0.10mm for russian volume, and 0.10mm, 0.15mm, 0.18mm, 0.20mm, 0.25mm for classic, you guys lash artists can pick them according to clients' natural eyelashes.

Lash glue is also a key. If use low quality lash glue may cause red eyes and allergic.

4. Check stickies

Stickies not only cause damage, but they are painful for the clients. So when you finish the set, don't forget to check if there is sticky every time!

5. Apply super bonder

Super bonder can help the glue curls fast and avoid some allergic, so we can apply super bonder after 2-3 minutes of the set is finished!
